Sister Love

I don't have a sister, and growing up I believed it so much better to have only brothers. With brothers, there was no one to steal your clothes or make-up, no one to compete with over friends and boyfriends, and no one to have to share a room with.

But my girls are changing my opinion of sisters. I love watching their bond grow closer with every day and see the many ways they are able to communicate using only one or two words. Watching them, I am now convinced that what every little girl needs is a sister! Someone to dress up with, play dolls with, create mischief with, and giggle with in bed. Someone to help you put on your shoes when you can't quiet figure it out, but don't want mommy to help, and someone to help you when you get stuck on your bike.

The devolpmental gap between them is getting smaller and smaller. They push each other, and compensate for each others weaknesses. And I notice when they are playing games, they seem to use each other's strengths to work together and accomplish things they couldn't do on their own.

They are definitely two peas from one pod!

Night and Day

My two girls are about as different as night and day. In fact, about the only thing they seem to share is an incredibly strong will.

Tonight we lit fireworks in celebration of Pioneer Day. Here's their reactions.

Victoria ooo-ed and awed, and clapped after each one:IMG_8561

Antalya cried, yelled "scared" and "loud" over and over, and then clapped after each one because she was so glad it was over:IMG_8560

But despite their differences there is one thing they both agree on.
Giving kisses is the best!

Sisters

Say Cheese
"Hmmm, What's under this flap?"
"If you mess with my hat, I'm gonna mess with yours"
"Mom wants us to look at the camera. Hurry, quick, look the other way!"
"You're silly"
"I just want to SQUEEZE you!!"
"There, did I get it on right?"
"Hmmm, I'm not sure. But I think it's time to trade glasses."

Sisters

I swear these girls of mine were born with magnets that pull the two of them together. Almost every time I turn around either Victoria is chasing Antalya or Antalya is mauling Victoria (which means V usually ends up in tears - but at the same time I think she loves it).

Antalya's new favorite thing is to pick up Victoria and walk with her. It's great fun until she decides she's done which means she simultaneously drops and pushes her to ground.

I feel like I've had to have eyes in the back in my head lately with these two.

Countdown: Only 5 days till "Papa" and "Mama" arrive!

More Fun With Two

One of Antalya's new favorite activities is to sit in one of the toy bins and then have Jason or I pile as many toys as possible on her. She thinks it is hilarious. A couple mornings ago she wanted to play this game with Victoria. It was so cute to see how excited she got when she saw both her and Victoria covered in toys. I know she looks beyond thrilled in the picture, but that is just because she absolutely hates me taking pictures (I have an unbelievable amount of pictures with that same look on her face - the "mom, will you please put the camera away" look).

And, I know this picture is really blurry, but the moment was so cute. I was making blueberry pancakes and as always, Antalya wanted a bowl of frozen blueberries to munch while I made the pancakes. I informed her she would need to share with Victoria. After several minutes I looked down and found my two little girls completely engrossed in a "sister moment". Antalya very happily showing Victoria how to eat the blueberries with the measuring spoon she stole from off the counter and Victoria very focused on taking in all Antalya's actions.
