For the last year I have wanted to change pediatricians. I put it off because I couldn't think of a really good reason to change, and I had received so many recommendations for the doctor we were seeing. Well, I have been reminded why it is that we as mothers are always told to follow our instincts - even if there is no logical reason why. We started seeing Dr Conner a month ago. From the moment she walked in and introduced herself, I knew I had found Antalya's pediatrician at last! She took one look at her chart, and then a look at Antalya and gave us referrals to see pulmonology and ENT. We just got back from our visit with the pulmonologist. Antalya has her first sleep study scheduled for next week, but without even seeing the results from that she was able to tell us that Antalya has been aspirating during the night, has sleep apnea, and incredibly enlarged adenoids that need to come out. Our appointment with ENT is on Friday. We'll see what they say - but it looks like my little girl is going to have to endure another surgery. But if it will help her breathe better and sleep better it will be worth it! Thank you Dr Conner for being proactive and not seeing my daughter as a syndrome, but rather as a child who can, and should receive all the help she needs to help her live a long, healthy life.
On another note - I am an awful blogger as of late. Last week Antalya took her first steps. That's right - my little girl can walk and I didn't even do a post about it. She will take up to 5 or 6 steps all by herself and is starting to do it more frequently now. I am so proud of her determination. If she keeps at it she could be running by her 2nd birthday. And yes, I am ready to chase her! I can't wait!

Sunny, I am so excited for you guys. Get ready to start chasing, cause once they start I don't think they know how to stop!! That stinks about the surgery, but as soon as it's over, you'll be so glad you listened to that intuition of yours!!
How wonderful about your new doctor! I'm glad you were able to find one that you like and seems to be doing some great things for Antalya and your family!
And congrats on Antalya walking. That is so so exciting!!!
Well, you're an expert runner now. I think you'll be able to keep up.
I am so glad that you were able to find a wonderful doctor. I hope that everything goes well at her next appointment.
Congratulations Antalya! You are an amazing little girl!
She is walking!! The way Antalya crawls I am sure you will get a run for your money. That little angel is quick!
Sounds like you found an excellent doctor! I hope everything goes well at your next visit. I can't believe Antalya is walking - That is so exciting!
AWESOME!!! All those things are great. I love to get a doctor that you know has your child's best interest at heart instead of the pay check and/or time crunch they are in. That's wonderful! I am so proud she can walk...what a delight that will be for you! I always LOVED it when my kids could finally walk, it gives them and you so much liberation and freedom (to some degree at least)...happy day!
Way to go sweet girl, hope you are making your Moma chase you soon! Glad the doctor went well!
I agree with Christine!
Hooray for good doctors and mother's intuition. :)
I'm glad Antalya has a great doctor to go along with her great mom. I hope everything goes well with her surgery. Congrats on the first steps. I bet she is so adorable walking around.
That is such exciting news! Congrats to Antalya for learning how to walk!
Sunny
Hey this is Tiffany Stuart from High School. Is Dr. Conner in American Fork. I think we might have the same pediatrician, their whole group is good. My best friend has a 3 year old with Down's she also has sleep apnea and many multiple other problems. They are throwing a big event next month about Down Syndrome awareness. It is going to be in Lehi and it is turning out to be a big event. You guys should come!
I'm glad that you finally found a good doctor. It's such a relief to find someone who is finally willing to help. Ask the ENT about getting Antalya's tonsils out too. My doctor told me that if they are going to do surgery that they might as well take out the adnoids and tonsils-both are really useless and you don't need them. Leah will both of hers out when needed.
that is so exciting about the walking!! just wait it goes by so fast. Leah can walk around the house all by herself. She still crawls alot but now is mostly walking. It's so fun to see them move like crazy maniacs!!
That is the greatest news! How awesome that you followed your gut instinct and found such a great pediatrician.
And WAY TO GO ANTALYA!!! I'm so happy you're a walking girl now! Keep it up!
YAY on finding a great ped. It makes a WORLD of difference.
