Grandma and Grandpa are Home and Surgery is Set

This afternoon Jason's parents returned home. They have been missionaries in Paraguay for the last two years. We are so excited to have them home!

While Jason was at the airport welcoming them home, Antalya and I were meeting with her ENT (ear, nose, throat) doctor. We have a new surgery date set for November 17th. Hopefully this day will stick. He agreed that, unless she gets the croup again between now and then, he will do the surgery - even if she is congested. And he gave me an antibiotic to start giving her two weeks before surgery to hopefully ward off any sinus infections. I'm not thrilled that we have another 6+ weeks to wait, but I am feeling better about things and am grateful for good medical care. The doctor voiced concern about how often she gets the croup. I think they are going to add a respiratory evaluation to the list of things to check while she is under general anthesis. I'm glad they are going to be able to really take advantage of the fact that she will be out. Looks like she will be having her adenoids and tonsils removed, tubes put in her ears, her yearly echocardiogram done to check her heart, respiratory evaluation, and possibly an EKG and chest x-rays (we will be getting those done on Monday at her cardiology appointment if I can't talk them into waiting until November).

Anyways, tonight I am feeling very grateful for all that is good in our life. We are so blessed. I complain sometimes when Antalya gets sick, but really I know how lucky we have been that we haven't had to deal with any major health issues. It probably won't always be that way, but while it is, I sure feel blessed.

Glad to hear your inlaws made it back home safely!

That's great that the dr is going to go ahead with her surgery and they'll be able to do the other procedures while she's out.
